Biggest thing -- the fence is up. Deer and w*#chucks still graze outside the fence but are deterred from the main course (our veggie and flower gardens). Still need  to build the gate, which we'll make from redwood.

This news from The Friends of Clermont: The beautiful Lilac Walk is about to burst into bloom at Clermont State Historic Site just north of the Dutchess-Columbia County border.

According to the group's Facebook page, the lilac buds should open at the end of this week. Here's a photo of a bluebird that was resting on the satellite dish in our northern Dutchess County yard in mid-February. And I saw five robins splashing in a puddle outside the house today.
